Work underway on Borders Rail Project

The City Bypass diversion at Sherrifhall is clearly shown here and will shortly be in use enabling tunnelling works to be carried for the Borders Rail route

I wonder why they didn't create a cut'n'cover tunnel from the North while they were at it? Could then attack it from both sides...

They should have just pushed a concrete box through the bypass, far quicker!
