North tower of Forth Crossing closes the gap

Bridging the gap




As Spring approaches the gap narrows between the north tower bridge deck and the north shore. Progress continues on all towers which have now reached their final height .

Approved Drone Operator 




I now have Civil Aviation Authority approval for drone operations and the video above is part of my recent work . This represents a new and exciting development in aerial photography and has many applications , particularly when combined with time lapse .

Whilst out photographing the Borders Rail Project on a particularly lovely late summers day I captured the impressive ruins of Dryburgh Abbey. Final resting place of Sir Walter Scott and Earl Haig among others.

Whilst on a recent aerial sortie to Aberdeen I captured this image of Stonehaven with people enjoying the summer sunshine on the beach . Could almost be somewhere in Greece !

Blackness Castle - the "ship"


Described as "the ship that never sails" I captured Blackness Castle on a recent sortie in the Firth of Forth. Its not hard to see why it was described in this manner !

Forth Bridge first sections "launched"


This recent view of the "launch " area at Echline clearly show the first two sections in position. These sections will be gradually pushed out towards the central tower in a remarkable feat of engineering.

Tugs hard at work

Whilst out flying on a recent sortie over the Forth I caught this image of one of the bigger tankers to visit the Hound Point Oil Terminal  being moved into position by tugs.
